T-22 – Passing Time

Finally back to the gym  a few times this week, mostly sticking with non-treadmill cardio for now.  I also get new shoes.  I’ve been using Mizuno Inspire 8’s so far.  I decided to try the newer 9’s this time.  Based on reviews, everyone said they offer same support, are a little lighter (everyone likes) and a little more ventilated (which people like or dislike based on when/where they run).  Since I’m doing most of my official training during summer/early fall, ventilation sounds good.

I tried them at the gym and they seemed ok, so went for my first run since the marathon on Sunday – 6 miler.  Rough.  Shoes were fine.  But not running for a month, and barely exercising most of that month, did not help.  Nor did the big uptick in temps.  Nor did my attempt to train faster (I really want a solid sub-4 for my next [and last] marathon).  I blasted the first 2 miles out in 7-7:30 times but was a little spent after that.  Needed a few more water breaks than I would have liked for 6 miles.

But it’s a start.  Mileage count won’t begin until official training starts in July.
